Pokemon Legends: Arceus Announced
An open world RPG set in the world of Pokemon
Along with the announcement of the Diamond and Pearl remakes also came our first look at something Pokemon fans have been hiding for, for years; an open world RPG. Pokemon Legends: Arceus will take place in the same Sinnoh region as Diamond and Pearl, however this game will be a prequel of sorts to the entire Pokemon franchise. In fact, the developers of the game refer to it as a “pre-make”. Here is what we know so far:
As trainers explore the natural expanses in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, they’ll encounter pokémon that call these grand vistas home. To catch wild pokémon, players can study the pokémon’s behaviors, sneak up to them, then throw poké balls. Players can also battle wild Pokémon with their ally pokémon. By throwing the poké ball holding their ally pokémon near a wild pokémon, players will seamlessly enter battle. This new gameplay angle is intended to provide trainers with an immersive experience.
Today’s announcements were part of The Pokemon Company’s live stream event in celebration of the franchises 25th anniversary. To cap off the celebration, The Pokemon Company will be holding a virtual concert featuring Post Malone. The concert kicks off on Feburary 27th at 7pm EST. You can watch it on Youtube, Twitch or at Pokemon.com/25
