Guardians of the Galaxy Vol: 3 Puts Out Casting Call For Adam Warlock
Looking at you, Zac Efron
It should come as no surprise that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol: 3 will feature Adam Warlock. Marvel Studios has recently put out a call looking for someone to play the golden anti-hero.
“…a thirty year-old Caucasian man, who is described as both a super hero type and a Zac Efron type”
Director James Gunn had intended for Adam Warlock to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol: 2, but changed his mind at the last minute. Gunn felt as though Vol: 2 had enough characters already.
Adam Warlock will be created to destroy the Guardians
As we saw in the post credit scene for Guardians 2, Adam Warlock will be created the Sovereign leader Ayesha. The scene shows a clearly frazzled Ayesha sitting in front of a new birthing pod claiming that what’s inside is “The next step in our evolution, more powerful, more beautiful, and capable of destroying the Guardians of the Galaxy.” While this origin differs from the comic books, it does fit slightly better into the MCU.
Since he first debuted in 1972, Adam Warlock has been a key figure on the cosmic side of Marvel comics. He was originally was created on earth by a group of scientists known as the Enclave. They sought to create the perfect being and in doing so gave birth to ‘Him’. Almost immediately however ‘Him’ sensed the evil intentions of his creators and fled.
We still have a bit longer to wait for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol: 3
Filming for Vol: 3 will likely begin very late this year or early 2022. The cast of Guardians is currently filming scenes for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’. While director James Gunn is working on his ‘Peacemaker’ series for HBO Max. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol: 3 is scheduled for a 2023 release, though no specific dates have been given yet.
