Andy Serkis Gives Venom Sequel Update and Teases Batman Role
Soldier, Butler, Actor, Director
Actor and director Andy Serkis sat down with ComicBookMovie.com to promote his latest film. ‘SAS: Red Notice’ is an action thriller based on the novel of the same name, written by Andy McNab. During the interview, Serkis was able to give fans a tease about his upcoming role as Alfred Pennyworth in Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’.
Similarly to other cast members of ‘The Batman’, Serkis is being very tight lipped about his role or any other plot details. In the comics, prior to becoming a butler, Alfred Pennyworth served as a member of the SAS. When asked about the common ground shared between Serkis’s character in ‘SAS: Red Notice’ and Alfred, Serkis had this to say:
I mean, if I get into any sort of discussion about that, I’ll get taken out by someone, I’m sure. Yes, I think there probably might be some little bit of crossover, yeah, for sure. I can’t tell you any more [Laughs].Â

The first trailer for ‘The Batman’ dropped back in August of 2020. Principal photography has just wrapped up and it is scheduled for a October 1, 2021 release.
Andy Serkis is no stranger to comic book movies

In addition to ‘The Batman’, Serkis has also been hard at work behind the camera on another comic book property. Serkis is the director on the sequel to 2018’s ‘Venom’, ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’. During the interview, Serkis was kind enough to field another off-topic question regarding the Venom sequel. He spoke highly of star Tom Hardy as well as the excitement he felt about the project.
I’m super excited about it. Again, it’s not something I can particularly talk about right now because we’re saving it for when everybody can go and enjoy it in the cinema. I don’t want to blow it or talk about it too much before then, but I’ve had a ball working on that film. It’s been great. [It’s] another bunch of brilliant actors, and it’s headed up by another keen SAS man, Tom Hardy [Laughs]. I hope you won’t feel disappointed. It was a real pleasure working on it.
‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ is scheduled for a June 25, 2021 release.
