‘Son Of Kong’ Reboot In The Works. Adam Wingard To Direct
After the underwhelming ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ fans began to speculate that the Monsterverse would conclude with ‘Godizilla Vs. Kong’. However, it’s beginning to look like there is hope for the Monsterverse after all.
‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ director Adam Wingard is in early talks to helm the next installment of the franchise, tentatively titled ‘Son of Kong’. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Legendary is planning to follow up their big-budget monster brawl with one or more follow up films. While the title for the next film may not be a lock, the plan to introduce another member of the Kong clan seems to be moving forward.

‘Son of Kong’ was originally released by RKO pictures as a direct followup to the original ‘King Kong’. Although the movie is not as highly regarded as its predecessor, ‘Son of Kong’ did manage to attract some fans.
In the meantime, Adam Wingard has his plate full of upcoming projects. Along with ‘Son of Kong’ Wingard will also direct an animated reboot of ‘Thundercats’ for Warner Brothers. Additionally, he is attached to the Paramount Face/Off sequel. Unfortunately, with these projects already entering production, it will likely be a while he returns to the Monsterverse.
